Hey, gorgeous! 💖 We’re so excited to have you shimmying, strutting, and sparkling with us! To keep things running smoothly and ensure everyone has a fabulous time, here are a few house rules to know before you dive into the world of burlesque with us.

🎟 Refunds & Make-Up Classes

💰 Cooling-Off Period: Changed your mind? No problem! You’ve got 7 days after enrolment to cancel for a full refund. After that, refunds are only available if the entire term is cancelled or postponed.

🤕 Life Happens: If you experience injury, illness, or other unexpected circumstances, we can chat about deferring your enrolment—but this must be arranged before or as soon as the situation occurs.

💃 Missed a Class? No stress, babe! You can attend up to 3 make-up classes in the same term—just pick another class from our schedule! No refunds or extensions for individual missed classes.

📅 One-on-One Cancellations: Can’t make your private workshop? Give us at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule. Refunds after that are at our discretion.

⏳ Late Enrolments & Payments

✔ Joining Late? We’ll happily accept latecomers if there’s space in class! The full term fee applies until Week 4.

❗ Late Payments: If you don’t pay by Week 4 (without prior arrangement), a 25% late fee will be added. If the class is full, unpaid spots will be forfeited.

🩹 Injuries & Risks

🚨 We Love You, But… While we take every precaution to keep you safe, Canberra Burlesque Academy isn’t responsible for injuries or lost items.

💪 Listen to Your Body! It’s your responsibility to ensure you’re medically fit to participate. If you have an injury or limitation, please let your instructor know.

📜 Medical Conditions? If you have a pre-existing medical condition requiring an action plan, please inform us before your first class and complete our Student Information Form.

👠 Dress for Success! Wear appropriate footwear and take safety precautions—by enrolling, you agree to take full responsibility for your well-being.

🏥 Accidents Happen: If an incident occurs, it will be recorded and reported. Should medical assistance be required, you agree to cover any related expenses.

🌟 Values & Respect

🏡 Respect Our Space! While partial nudity is part of burlesque, please cover up when moving between class spaces.

💖 Zero Tolerance for Bad Vibes! Our classes are a safe, inclusive, and judgment-free space. No bullying, intimidation, or discrimination—ever.

👀 Bringing a Friend or Child? If someone wants to watch class, every participant must give their consent. Otherwise, spectators can wait outside the studio.

📸 Photos & Videos

🎭 Lights, Camera, Action! We love capturing the magic of our classes and performances. Sometimes, we might take photos or videos for promotional purposes—but don’t worry, we’ll always clear sensitive images with you first!

❌ Want to Opt-Out? Just email us at canberraburlesqueacademy@gmail.com, and we’ll make sure your image isn’t used.

📷 Performances = More Cameras: Public performances may result in photos/videos taken by media or audience members—this is outside our control, so just strike a pose!

📝 Intellectual Property – aka ‘Don’t Steal Our Sparkle’

💃 Choreography Ownership: Any choreography learned remains the intellectual property of Canberra Burlesque Academy and its teachers. If you want to perform it solo, please ask permission and credit the choreographer.

📚 Class Resources: Handouts, guides, and other materials are for you only! Please don’t share or use them to teach others without our consent.

✨ Who can attend classes?

Anyone! All genders, races, sizes, and fitness levels are welcome to join. Just bring your enthusiasm and a love for movement!

✨ I’ve never done burlesque or danced before—can I still join?

YES! Our classes are beginner-friendly but paced to challenge you. If you’re brand new, you might need to practice at home to keep up—don’t worry, we’ve got your back!

✨ Do I have to perform? And do I have to strip?

Nope! Performing is 100% optional and how much you choose to reveal (or not) is entirely up to you.

✨ Do I have to book, or can I just show up?

✨ What shoes should I wear?

👣 Barefoot for warm-ups & van veils.
👠 Heels are great for burlesque (ballroom/salsa dance heels recommended).
🎭 Flat shoes are best for some dance styles—just ask your instructor!

✨ Do I need to bring my own fans?

If you have them, bring them! If not, we have a limited supply of feather fans available for loan, plus plastic fans for practice. Need recommendations on where to buy? Just ask!

✨ How do I get there? Where do I park?

🚍 Buses: We’re a 2-minute walk from the Tuggeranong bus interchange.
🚗 Parking: Available in front of the studio & on nearby streets.

✨ Can I book a burlesque hens party or professional performance?

YES! We offer exciting hens packages and professional performances. Email us for details at canberraburlesqueacademy@gmail.com.
