Workshop Description

Ever wanted to play with masculinity, build a character, or just see what happens when you give yourself permission to take up space with identity? This is that day. Led by Sparklemuffin (aka Mena Paws), this workshop is equal parts practical, personal, and enjoyable. You’ll be guided through creating a drag king persona from the ground up — looking at inspiration, music, makeup, facial hair, movement, and how to actually hold yourself on stage. We’re not here to force you into some cookie-cutter version of “manliness.” We work with what you’ve already got and build from there. Want to go subtle? Cool. Want to go full caricature? Also cool. There are no rules in drag — just tools to help you figure out what feels right. We’ll touch on things like packing and strapping (completely optional), stage presence, and how to move through the world with that grounded, blokey energy — or whatever version of it you want to explore. It’s a safe, supportive space. People might get a bit vulnerable, and a bit “oh wow that hit something” — and that’s all part of it. Date: 6 June Time: 11:30am – 4:30pm
